A Natural Beauty Routine for Girls on the Go

From gradient colored lipsticks to winged eyeliners and a bold contour, it seems as though the trends in the style industry seem to be ever-changing — and require more effort and time, too. When you’re on the go, the last thing you want to do is dedicate countless hours to your daily beauty routine or rituals. If you’re like me, you’d rather spend as little time possible on makeup and styling to dedicate yourself entirely to your daily adventures and journeys.

Reducing your prep time doesn’t have to be synonymous with a lack of beauty, either. Here are six simple steps for a natural beauty routine while cutting back on styling time whether you’re in a hurry or simply on the go.

Vamp Up Your Hair with Volume

I am not blessed with the gorgeous and envy-worthy locks that define Disney princesses and queens. In fact, I don’t have too much volume either. On a typical day, it’s not uncommon for me to wake up to a puffy mess that still somehow looks dull and flat throughout the day.

It’s no secret that traveling for extended periods of times doesn’t exactly do our hair any favors. Whether I get caught in the midst of a storm or venture out on a hot mid-summer day, my go-to fix for hair lacking a sense of luster is to add a touch of volume to my up do for added flair.

Part of my natural beauty routine is spraying a chemical-free heat-protectant on my hair. Next, I add a little volume with a teasing comb and add a simple braid to keep my hair looking shiny, polished, and vibrant throughout the day.

Make Dry Shampoo Your New Best Friend

Nothing puts a damper on my beauty plans quite like a head full of oily hair. I’ll be the first to admit that a sudsy bath is often my first go-to plan, but switching out liquid shampoo for dry shampoo has changed my natural beauty routine drastically.

Did you know that washing your hair every day can do your hair more harm than good? Unless you have an excessively oily scalp, dermatologists recommend skipping the shampoo daily and waiting a few days before you decide to lather your hair up again.

Whenever my hair looks lifeless or drab, I spray a quick blast of my favorite dry shampoo to my roots and my locks look fresher than they ever did before. Plus, it frees up all of that additional bathroom time so that I can spend more hours embarking on new adventures.

Don’t Forget to Moisturize Your Skin

If you forget your makeup bag at the airport or leave your eye shadows and lipsticks behind, remember one thing can still save your daily beauty routine — moisturizer.

I cannot stress enough how crucial healthy-looking skin is for a tied together look. You may own the most expensive eyeliner or add those glamorous lashes to your lids, but nothing beats the glow of quenched and radiating skin.

If you choose to go commando or prefer a fresh look without layering on too much eye shadow or foundation, just layer your skin in a vitamin-e rich moisturizer for early morning preparation made simple.

Skip the Foundation and Blush

While this may seem like a controversial beauty tip, I never wear blush or foundation — especially when I’m on the go.

I’m prone to breakouts, so skipping the foundation and cover-up helps me avoid clogged pores. It’s not uncommon for me to work up a sweat during my travels, which makes forgoing the added foundation even more necessary.

Skipping the foundation and blush allows my skin to breathe more freely. It’s simpler to carry a cleansing wipe to wipe off excess dirt and oil that accumulates on my face throughout the day, too. Plus, the natural blush I get from being on the go is enough for me to put down the makeup brushes and ignite my inner beauty instead.

Never Neglect Your Lips

Your lips are often the first thing people will notice about you on your face — which makes keeping your puckers fresh and soft an essential part of your daily beauty routine.

I find that taking care of my lips is one of the easiest parts of my natural beauty routine. I can quickly shove a lip balm — or two — into my jean pockets or purse and take my handy lip moisturizers with me no matter where I go.

Best of all, nearly every beauty brand offer chap sticks or moisturizing lip balms in a variety of gorgeous hues and colors. While I often opt for a neutral color or clear tint, sometimes a pop of red or some added color is all I need to keep my lips — and my face — looking fresh and vibrant.

Stay Hydrated

I’ve come to learn that when you feel good, you look even better.
While it’s okay to indulge in a daiquiri or take a few sips of a fruity juice throughout the day, nothing is more vital to achieving a fresh face than just drinking water.

The weather can take a beating on your body — heat included. I find that when my mouth is dry and thirsty, my skin usually shows it. Doctors recommend getting about an ounce of water for each pound you weigh every single day.

When I find myself on the road or getting ready to embark on a new journey, the last thing I want to do is spend countless hours preparing myself in front of a mirror. But while it may seem like a face full of glamorous makeup is the sole way to achieve beauty, I’ve found that a natural look is my number one way to achieve my desired aesthetic instead.

Whether you have an active lifestyle and regularly find yourself on the go or don’t have too much time to dedicate to your daily morning routine, achieving your desired look can still be easy. After all, it only really takes a healthy and fresh appearance and a sense of radiating confidence to showcase your beauty to a tee.
